The Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, today gave a call to children and youth to use natural soil to carve out idols of Ganesh and Durga. Addressing the people through the radio programme “Mann Ki Baat“, Mr. Modi gave the call to revive the old tradition and protect the environment, protect water bodies and also protect the tiny species living in water from pollution. Mr. Modi said that celebrating an eco-friendly Ganeshotsav is also a work of social service.
Following Prime Minister´s call, idols of Ganesh are being made with natural soil across the country. A similar initiative under the aegis of “˜Narmada Samagra´ has been organised through a workshop ““ “˜Aao banaayen apne haathon se apne Ganesh ki moorti´ (Come, let us make with our own hands, idols of our Ganesh) at various places along River Narmada. During the workshop being organized by Bhopal-based, “˜Narmada Samagra´, Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Mr. Anil Madhav Dave, inspired children to make idols from natural soil.
“Prerna Pradhan Mantri ki, prayaas hamara, aao bachayen paani aur paryavaran“ (Prime Minister´s inspiration, our efforts“¦..Come, let us conserve water and protect environment), Mr. Dave said on the occasion.
The workshop will continue in Bhopal till September 4. Thousands of children from Amarkantak to Bharuch have been imparted training through the workshop.
