THE FRENCH JUSTICE MINISTER JEAN JACQUES URVOAS MEETS THE NATIONAL COMMITTEE

This partnership point and a mission to ensure the monitoring of the work about minors.

DIRECTORATE OF JUDICIAL PROTECTION OF YOUTH ADVISES THE JUDGE ON THE VENUE FOR THE MINORS BEFORE DECISION IN JUVENILE FACILITY Placed within the Directorate of Judicial Protection of Youth (DPJJ), its mission is to advise judges on the venue for these minors without parental referent, taking into account their individual circumstances and placing Home of the local communities concerned before a placement decision in juvenile facility. Jean-Jacques Urvoas welcomed the presence of representatives of the Association of Departments of France, partner associations and organizations (France Terre d'Asile, the French Red Cross, the CAPE - federation of child protection associations and Unions - national Inter-Union works and health and social non-profit private organizations, ...), the judiciary and the various ministries concerned.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Minister of Justice, welcomes agreement around this new distribution mechanism, which allows now the resumption of activities of the cell, through the involvement of the departments and actors involved.----------------------------------------------- In addition, the Minister pointed out that the concept of "unaccompanied minor" will now be replaced by the term "unaccompanied minors". This change reminds that these children and adolescents are covered by the child protection system; it also means that the geographical origin is irrelevant when it comes to support a child without his parents and dramas have pushed him on the tracks of wandering.
