PRESIDENT HOLLANDE HOSTS 14 REPRESENTATIVES OF NGOs TO PLAN NEGOTIATIONS COP21
BEFORE GOING TO UE-TURKEY SUMMIT

On the eve of the opening of the COP21, the French President Hollande received today 14 representatives of NGOs particularly involved in the issues of climate negotiations, which have made him their proposals for an ambitious, universal and fair. President Hollande is launching the negotiations just before leaving for Brussels, for a European Summit today.
DISCUSSIONS AND NEGOTIATIONS HAVE BEGUN ALREADY THE EVE OF THE COP21 IN PARIS--------------------
Discussions focused particularly on essential support to developing countries and the most vulnerable countries to adapt to global warming.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The issues of funding, the upward revision mechanism, national contributions of the action to be taken before 2020, but also food security, integration of fundamental rights in the agreement and the price of carbon, were also discussed.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The President of the Republic welcomed the quality of the regular dialogue with civil society in the preparation of COP21 and assured of his determination to get an agreement in Paris at the height of the climate challenge, notably in favour of the developing countries vulnerable.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He hoped that the negotiation process combines more non-state actors in the development of the agreement.
Finally the French President welcomed the spirit of accountability of NGOs, in the context of enhanced security measures taken following the attacks on 13 November, and confirmed its wish that the many events planned during the COP21 may well stand in the best conditions.
