The UN will celebrate an extraordinary event marking its 70th Anniversary as Bako Ambianda who is one of the campus leader's of GenUN in Austin has organize the UN Day 70th Anniversary Celebration which will be held at the University of Texas At Austin Campus on Saturday October 24, 2015.
The event is designed to celebrate the global efforts and achievements of the UN. It will feature the distribution of UN70 pens, pins, stickers and more plus the discussion of United Nations Sustainable Development goals enacted at the UN Sustainable Development Summit held from September 25-27 at UN Headquarters in New York.
The goals were as follows;
(1) End poverty in all its forms everywhere
(2) End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture
(3) Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages
(4) Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all
(5) Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls
(6) Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all
(7) Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all
(8) Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all
(9) Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation
(10) Reduce inequality within and among countries
(11) Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable
(12) Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns
(13) Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts*
(14) Conserve and sustainable use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development
(15) Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainable manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss
(16)Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels
(17) Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development
(18) Acknowledging that the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change is the primary international, intergovernmental forum for negotiating the global response to climate change.
Seventy years ago, 50 nations came together in San Francisco, USA, to create a new organization for peace, prosperity and human rights -- the United Nations. The 70th Anniversary if the United Nations is an opportunity to reflect and look back on the UN´s history and take stock of its enduring achievements. It is a day devoted to making known to peoples of the world the aims and achievements of the United Nations Organization. The event is organized by Bako Ambianda in collaboration with UT Sciences Toastmaster and Global Attain Advancement.
