The Vice President of India, Mr. Mohd. Hamid Ansari said that unity among the people of the country was essential for India´s progress and development. He was speaking at a Quami Ekta Sammelan organized at Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh on October 1. The Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Mr. Ram Naik, Minister of State in Uttar Pradesh Government, Mr. Nitin Agrawal and Member of Parliament (RS), Shri Naresh Agrawal were also present at the event.
While addressing the gathering at Hardoi Intermediate College grounds, the Vice President said that a meeting of hearts and minds of the people was essential for India to move ahead. He said that the State had to ensure the Right to Life, enshrined in Article 21 of Indian Constitution, to every citizen of India, irrespective of the citizen´s faith or creed. Citizens had a right to demand security and there could be no development till the security of citizens was assured, he added.
