Fighter Jets Scramble Over Hungary

USPA NEWS - The Hungarian air corps deployed twice Friday after there were suspected violations of its airspace.

Radar had signaled an unidentified object that was thought to be in the area, but the fighters found nothing after roaming the northeast section of the country, near Ukraine. On the previous day, an unmanned military aircraft crashed in the Croatian capital of Zabreb, after it trespassed in Hungarian and Romanian airspace. Hungary, along with NATO allies Romania and Croatia, are investigating the incident.

Hungarian Foreign Minister, Péter Szijjártó stated yesterday that “because there is a war going on in our neighborhood, it is extremely important for the armed forces and the air force to take a calm and measured approach at all times. It was no different this time and would be no different in the coming period.”

This reporter resides in northeast Hungary and has been watching the increased air defence traffic over my home. For those who are not familiar with the difference in the vapor trails left by jets in the air, those left by large commercial aircraft will be wide and long. The trail left by fighter jets are narrower and shorter.
