USPA NEWS - The Regions take note of the announcements made by the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister following the incomprehensible decision of the Constitutional Council on the Molac law. However, they will never cease to be vigilant until words are acted upon. Indeed, now, faced with the decision of the Constitutional Council, only written law will be able to secure the immersive teaching of regional languages, whether in association schools or public schools. The upcoming appointment of two deputies on a mission to definitively secure the immersive teaching of regional languages ??appears to them as a first step to reassure students, families and all those who defend this “national treasure”, according to the formula used by the head of the state itself.

For it would be inconceivable now to consider that this teaching method would oppose the constitutional principle that French is the language of the Republic.---------------------------------------------------------------------- The teaching method by immersion (teaching in a language other than French in the majority of subjects) is indeed recognized as the most effective for learning all languages, as evidenced by the development of international classes in our high schools. The mastery of several languages ??is an incomparable wealth for our young people, now and in the future. And it even improves fluency in French! For all these reasons, within the framework of their competences on secondary schools and regional languages, the Regions wish to be associated with the work of the deputies on mission and of the government to find together the solutions allowing to offer the teaching of these languages ??to all the students, public and private, from the start of the 2021 school year.
