Al-Sisi discusses implementation of national medical insurance project

President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi discussed on Wednesday with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Health Hala Zayed, the implementation of the national medical insurance project and the situation of blood banks as well as finishing the waiting lists in hospitals and the campaign for countering hepatitis C.
During the meeting, Al-Sisi urged the Minister of Health to benefit from international experience in implementing the project for collecting and manufacturing plasma in Egypt, to meet the international standards, in order to obtain self-sufficiency. He also ordered the concerned officials to provide modern medical technology for blood transfusions and to disseminate the idea of blood donation.
Al-Sisi also directed increasing the number of medical portable units in remote and underprivileged areas, in addition to working towards decreasing mortality rates caused by hepatitis C, according to a statement from the Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.
For her part, Zayed briefed the president about the ongoing procedures for implementing the plasma project through benefiting from international experience. She also pointed out that over 18,000 patients were cured through the framework of the national initiative for ending waiting lists, exceeding the number of patients in the mail lists which stood at 17,000 patients in two months amid the initiative which will last for three years.
