USPA NEWS - Last week saw a strategic meeting between Director GCHQ, Commander of the UK's Joint Forces Command, and Director NSA and Commander of US Cyber Command. For the first time, they issued a joint statement, reflecting the changing cyber landscape and US/UK support and solidarity as we face shared challenges together.
GCHQ has a long established history of collaboration with the USA, dating back to WWII. One of the enduring legacies of WWII is the Signals Intelligence relationship between the UK and the US. This partnership continues to deliver enormous benefits to both nations. We combat threats to the UK from terrorism, cyber-attack and serious crime - to name but a few - by working closely with our US counterparts who share our interests and face similar challenges, benefiting from their expertise, unique intelligence and capabilities.
Last week Jeremy Fleming, Director GCHQ, General Sir Christopher Deverell, Commander of the UK's Joint Forces Command, and Admiral Mike Rogers, Commander of US Cyber Command and Director of the National Security Agency, held a strategic review meeting in the United States to discuss the ongoing partnership between the agencies.

Following their meeting, on Sunday 25th March 2018, they issued a joint statement reinforcing that our ongoing partnership and shared history will continue to be vital in protecting the UK and USA. A copy of the statement is detailed below:
"Our organisations work extremely closely together to help keep the United States and United Kingdom safe. Our discussions focused on how best we deploy and develop our cyber capabilities to counter, and defend ourselves against, malign activity around the world.

"This cooperation has been part of our shared history for over 75 years, and will continue to be vital in protecting our countries. Every day our brilliant people share information and ideas as they counter shared threats in an increasingly digital world. We thank them for everything that they do."
