I know it was a presumptuous task to try to read the signs of the times. It was not a learned teaching but a kind of research conducted with you that often made me know your opinions sometimes contrary to mine. Here lies the richness of the dialogue indispensable in any society and absolutely necessary to the democracy which is dear to us and so precious that it is necessary to take care of it. I thank from the bottom of my heart all those who have helped me and supported me in this task for half a century now.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He was appreciated for his humanity and open-mindedness, which was reflected in articles and editorials with accurate and balanced analyzes. Under his leadership, Ouest-France has risen to the top spot in the French-language dailies, with nearly 700,000 copies distributed every day. It was also able to adapt to the digital transformation, with a website hosting nearly 65 million hits every month. François Régis Hutin was a Christian-Democrat of ideal, he was consciously married to fights such as the abolition of the death penalty, the freedom of education, and especially Europe, his great concern, which until his last breath animated his words and his writings. Exchanging with him was always a source of new and interesting lights."
